diff

compare two files line by line

NAME
diff - compare two files line by line

SYNOPSIS
    diff old new

DESCRIPTION
Compares two files. It skips the common leading and trailing lines
and reports the differing middle: lines only in the first file are
prefixed "< ", lines only in the second "> ". Identical files produce
no output. This is a prefix/suffix-anchored diff that isolates one
changed block, not a minimal-edit diff. Holds up to 96 lines of 79
chars per file. diff is a /bin program.

EXAMPLES
    diff OLD.TXT NEW.TXT
    diff a.asm b.asm
