cat¶
concatenate and print files
NAME
cat - concatenate and print files
SYNOPSIS
cat [file | glob]
DESCRIPTION
With a file argument, prints that file. With a glob (* or ? in the
last component), concatenates every matching file in that directory.
With no argument, copies standard input to standard output, so it
works as a filter with redirection (<) and pipes (|). cat is a /bin
program.
EXAMPLES
cat README.TXT print a file
cat *.log concatenate matching files
cat *.log >all.txt ... into a file (redirect)
cat <file print from a stdin redirect
cat file | grep hello as a pipe stage
