edit¶
a line-oriented text editor
NAME
edit - a line-oriented text editor
SYNOPSIS
edit name
DESCRIPTION
A simple line editor for creating and changing text files over the
serial console, without needing a full-screen terminal (unlike vi).
Lines are numbered; you list, insert, replace, and delete by number,
then write the file out. edit is a /bin program (a TPA program run at
$6A00).
LIMITS
The text buffer is 12 KB ($C000..$F000) and lines are capped at 255
characters. A file larger than 12 KB is REFUSED outright --
"FILE TOO LARGE (MAX 12K)" -- rather than part-loaded: a truncated
buffer would look like a short file, and writing it back out would
destroy the rest of it. Use vi or split the file.
EXAMPLES
edit hello.asm
run /bin/edit.bin notes.txt
