NAME
term - an on-screen console in the desktop app frame (graphics mode)
SYNOPSIS
term
DESCRIPTION
The Term app (two-mode P5): a full-screen terminal on the GL display.
It IS the glass TTY (the on-screen console) presented as a desktop app.
Type a command at the "term>" prompt and it runs with its output drawn
ON THE SCREEN; the session accumulates as you go.
Requires a display (a GL card fitted). Launch it from the Finder APPS
menu (press 'a', then T), or run it from the shell.
USAGE
term> ls run any /bin command; output appears on screen
term> cube a graphics program takes the screen, then returns
term> exit leave Term -> back to the Finder desktop
(quit is a synonym for exit.)
NOTES
There is no "run a program and return" call on the P8X, so Term persists
the way the desktop auto-returns: after a command it writes a two-line
script -- the command, then "run /bin/term.bin -c" -- and hands it to the
shell (SYS_RUNSH). The command runs; Term re-launches in continue mode
(-c), which keeps the screen instead of re-clearing it. `exit` becomes
/bin/finder.bin instead.
The console it uses is the glass TTY, which is on by default whenever a
card is fitted (see `screen`); Term just claims the app frame over it.
