a basic spreadsheet on the graphics card

NAME
    sheet - a basic spreadsheet on the graphics card

SYNOPSIS
    sheet [file] [-d | -w]

DESCRIPTION
    A grid of cells (A..H across, 1..12 down) with a menu/formula bar,
    drawn full-screen on the GL card. A cell holds a NUMBER or a FORMULA;
    a cell whose text starts with '=' is a formula, otherwise it is a
    number. Everything is 16-bit INTEGER -- this machine has no floating
    point -- so division and AVG truncate toward zero.

    Move the selection with the arrow keys or by CLICKING a cell. Start
    typing a number or '=' to edit the selected cell; the bar shows what
    you type. Enter commits (and steps down a row); Esc cancels;
    Backspace clears the selected cell. Any change recomputes the whole
    sheet, so formulas that depend on other cells update live.

FORMULAS
    A formula is an integer expression after the '=':
      + - * /        the usual precedence, with ( ) to group
      A1 .. H12      a cell reference -- its current value
      SUM(A1:A5)     sum of a range
      AVG(A1:A5) average of a range (integer, truncated)
      MAX(A1:A5)     largest in a range
      MIN(A1:A5)     smallest in a range
    A range is two references separated by ':' and may run in any
    direction. Division by zero, a bad reference, or trailing junk shows
    #ERR, and a formula that reads an #ERR cell is #ERR too.

    Examples:
      =1+2*3         -> 7
      =(1+2)*3       -> 9
      =A1+B2 -> the two cells added
      =SUM(A1:A10)   -> a column total
      =MAX(A1:H1)    -> the biggest in a row

KEYS
    arrows          move the selection
    0-9 - + = . start editing the cell with that first character
    Enter commit the edit and move down
    Esc             cancel the edit
    Backspace       clear the selected cell
    s SAVE -- prompts for a filename (Enter keeps the shown
                    one; edit it to "save as")
    o OPEN a file -- prompts for a filename, then loads it
    q               quit

    The Save/Load prompt shows in the bar, pre-filled with the current
    file. Type over it (Backspace edits), Enter confirms, Esc cancels.

MOUSE
    A crosshair follows the pointer. Click a cell to select it; click
    SAVE / LOAD / QUIT in the bar at the top-right (SAVE and LOAD open the
    same filename prompt as the keys). The pointer arrives as xterm SGR (a
    terminal with mouse reporting, the emulator's -W browser pad, or a
    real PS/2 mouse).

FILE
    sheet loads and saves a line-based file, one "REF raw" per non-empty
    cell (e.g. "A1 5", "B1 =SUM(A1:A5)"). With no argument the file is
    /SHEET.SS; pass a path to use another. -d chains back to desk on
    quit, -w to the resident wdesk; otherwise quit returns to finder.

NOTES
    The sheet is one screen -- no scrolling past A1..H12 yet. Values are
    16-bit signed, so a SUM that exceeds +/-32767 wraps.
